We all have commitments. Our jobs, exercise, relationships, and even going to church can be a commitment. Some may call these obligations. But what I have found sets our commitments apart is that it is based on your head and not your heart. There are many times I don't "feel" like going to work, or to church, or even to exercise, but I do them anyway because I know these things are good for me and result in positive changes. One of my commitments is prayer, especially during tough times. I didn't always feel like it because the huge burdens made me sad, depressed, and sometimes angry. Still, I prayed anyway knowing God knew what I needed, and understood my pain, and would hear my prayers. So being dedicated to something helps me to do it regardless of feelings, conflicts, or just laziness. A recovery program takes commitment as well. It's hard as heck! Working each steps regardless of how you feel will result in positive outcomes.
